Lawton Eisenhower Eagles 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Bank of Commerce

LAWTON EISENHOWER EAGLES
 Coach: JAVON HARRIS

2-8

OFFENSE

Entering his second season as head coach of the Eagles, Javon Harris is looking forward to taking the field with a team who is bought in and ready to work. “Very high expectations for the Eagles. After only losing four starters, we are looking to make a run this next season,” said coach Harris. Rashaud Hurt (6-0, 210, Jr.) compiled 969 yards rushing, 276 yards receiving and nine touchdowns a year ago. His production will likely climb again this season. Quarterback Charlie Trachte (5-8, 185, Jr.) will lead the offense giving the team a threat to run or pass on every snap. Serri Sheridan (5-10, 170, Jr.) is one of the go-to targets for Trachte. Sheridan accounted for 293 yards receiving and three scores a year ago. Aiden Monigold (6-3, 225, So.) started eight games as a freshman and figures into the offense as both a receiving tight end and an extra blocker. Milo Wyatt (6-4, 275, So.) started eight games on the line for the Eagles. That experience makes Wyatt a more seasoned player and someone the coaching staff can count on for solid play up front. Jalen Jones (6-2, 170, Sr.) is a wide receiver talent opponents should not sleep on. Jones had 15 receptions for 230 yards a year ago.

DEFENSE

Nine starters are back on defense including Jones who will play defensive end/outside linebacker. Jones made 21 tackles and picked off one pass last year. He also added three pass break-ups. Kingston Tito (6-2, 235, Sr.), a returning VYPE Top 100 player, made 47 tackles and five sacks last year as a junior. He is disruptive and has the talent to play at the next level. Jermaine Veu (6-1, 270, Sr.) is coming off an injury that kept him on the sidelines last season. Veu is an athletic big-man in the interior of the defensive line. Tony Worrie (5-7, 205, Sr.) is one of the more productive players on the roster. Worrie made 60 tackles and forced two fumbles last year. He also recorded one sack. Another linebacker to watch is Rashaud Ellzey (5-10, 205, Sr.). Ellzey had 30 tackles as a junior with one fumble recovery. Joining Veu on the defensive line is Isaiah Esquivel (5-8, 225, Jr.). Esquivel made 11 tackles and 3.5 sacks last year. With Veu likely seeing a double-team most plays, Esquivel could have a breakout season. Another player to watch on defense is Daveon Arceneaux at linebacker. Arceneaux started three games last season and should see an increase in playing time this year.
