Cache’s Carson Frees – Presented by Farm Credit Western Oklahoma

Cache High School junior Carson Frees first got involved in FFA when he was in middle school thanks to a friend who encouraged him to join.

“I first got involved in showing sheep during my seventh grade year and decided to join FFA as soon as I hit the eighth grade. My friend got me involved when he wanted me to show sheep with him, which sounded like fun. My mom, aunt, and grandparents all showed livestock and were thrilled to see me take an interest in showing,” said Frees.

Frees has now shown sheep for five years and has three sheep he is currently showing. As a member of the FFA chapter, Frees is involved in shooting skeet, food science, and livestock judging. At CHS, Frees is a member of the Pride of Cache Marching Band, student counsel, and Beta Club.

“I enjoy the memories and the lessons that I learn in FFA. The memories are something that will never be forgotten and are cherished forever. The lessons I have learned are things you can apply to your life in the future,” said Frees.

Frees said he plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a master’s in meteorology. Frees said his Ag teacher has been a big influence in his life.

“My Ag Teacher, Mr. Dempsey. He has encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and got me more involved in CDE contests. He is always someone I can count on if I ever need anything in life. He will always be there for his Ag students. He has spent countless hours practicing with his Food Science teams, leading showmanship clinics, checking/altering feed on animals, and tending to sick animals. He is the best Ag teacher I’ve ever had,” said Frees.
