Lawton Mac’s Colby Flood – Presented by Cameron University

Former MacArthur High School standout, Colby Flood, is now a junior at Cameron University where he plays baseball and is majoring in sports and exercise science. Deciding where to attend college after high school was an easy choice for Flood. Electing to attend Cameron University was the right decision for many reasons according to Flood.

“I chose Cameron because obviously I’m from here, but it just made sense. I get to stay home, play baseball and its cheaper overall than another college,” said Flood. For Flood, there are many things about Cameron University he has grown to love. From the classes to the campus, one thing that stands out for Flood are his teammates.

“What I love most about my teammates at Cameron is how we are all from different places and can merge to obtain a single mindset on the field. Even though we are all different we can understand what everyone is trying to accomplish,” said Flood. Coming out of high school there are always aspects of college life that every person must adjust to including managing your time and balancing your schedule.

“The biggest adjustment from high school to college was independence and making sure you’re on top of things. I have so much time that could be occupied doing other things, so making sure I’m on top of schoolwork, and baseball were my biggest adjustments,” said Flood. Flood said Cameron University is a great place for students who are looking for a college to call home. “I think what makes Cameron great for students is how much the staff listens to the students. Faculty and staff make Cameron an enjoyable place for students to come and have fun while getting an education.”
