OFFENSE

A mixture of young players and an exciting returning core that has won district two out of the last three years has Mangum head coach Sam Powers excited about the upcoming season. Offensively, the Tigers want to be fast and physical. They will lean on an explosive running game that will challenge teams with tempo, motions, and shifts. Ashton Pride (5-8, 185, Jr.) will lead the rushing attack. As a sophomore, Pride ran for 517 yards and eight touch- downs. Powers says Pride is a guy that Mangum cannot live without and can hit a home run each time he touches the ball. Joining Pride in the backfield is Aiden Warner (5-9, 140, Jr.) who will be under center for the Tigers. Tight end Nathan Augustine (6-3, 175, Sr.) is a big target for Warner. He had 13 catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns as a junior. Braylen Martinez (5-8, 150, Sr.) might not be the biggest target, but Pow- ers says he is very talented and outworks everyone else. Upfront, Mason Hopingardner (6-1, 250, Sr.) and Jake Green (6-3, 195, So.) will anchor the offensive line.

DEFENSE

Defensively, Mangum will use an odd front base defense to try and disguise pressure and coverages. Nathan Augus- tine returns at defensive end after registering 82 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and four sacks a year ago. Powers says Augustine is long, rangy, and difficult to block. The Mangum coaches are looking for another great year from him. Joining Augustine on the defensive line is nose guard Mason Hopingardner and defensive end Jake Green. Those two combined for 50 tackles, seven TFLs, and three sacks last season. Ashton Pride leads the linebacker group. He recorded 69 tackles, eight TFLs, and three sacks last season. Braylen Martinez and Jackson Risner (5-9, 145, Sr.) lead the secondary. They combined for 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack a season ago. Assisting Powers are Tommy Pride, Jake Combest, Garrett Pride and AJ Pineda.
