Snyder’s Rylee Granger Athlete Spotlight Presented by Jackson County Orthopedic Clinic

Rylee Granger does it all.

“FCA, yearbook, basketball, volleyball, track and cheer,” the Snyder High School senior said.

Granger plays forward on the hardwood.

What does it take to be a four-sport high school athlete who excels in several other areas?

“Work ethic, positive attitude, fighting through adversity, teammates and coaches,” Granger said.

Granger takes academics seriously. She credits her junior year math teacher, Mrs. Jackson, for sparking her initiative for the subject.

“Math wasn’t easy for me until my junior year,” Granger said. “[Mrs. Jackson] helped me through all the hard and helped me keep up.”

Having a rival serves as some motivation, too. There’s one in particular that Granger never takes for granted.

“Mangum,” Granger said. “It is always competitive, and I played with some of their players in travel ball.”

Relationships are an important aspect of Granger’s life. Her parents, she said, push her to be better in sports (sometimes, even, her father incentivizes her performance with the promise of Braum’s after a good game). Her peers are just as important — “Spending [free] time with my teammates and the relationships I’ve built,” Granger said, is a priority if you want to be successful on the court, on the track or on the sidelines.

“Kiyah, we always have fun playing with or guarding each other in practice. There is never a dull moment,” Granger said. “My coaches haven’t stopped pushing me my entire career. Between them and my dad, I wouldn’t be anywhere in life.”

She’d be remiss if she didn’t shoutout one of her teammates who often doesn’t get the spotlight she deserves:

“Bree, she is not known for [being] a scorer, but she is an awesome teammate and does her part of rebounding and playing defense.”

Another great motivation for Granger is serving her community and shedding a good light on Snyder, Okla.

“It means everything, I am out there for the community and my teammates, and I love being a Cyclone.”
