OFFENSE

The Bombers and head coach Bret Tyler are eager to take the field and erase the memory that was 2021. Coach Tyler and the team felt they underperformed and that has fueled the team coming into the spring and summer. “We return almost everyone, after a season that we were disappointed in,” said Tyler. “Should have a very solid team.” With 10 starters back on offense, the Bombers look like a team that could contend for district. Alford Cathey (6-5, 190, Sr.) is back at wide receiver after making 42 re- ceptions for 927 yards and five scores a year ago. Quarterback Adrian Gaytan (6-3, 175, Sr.) will certainly look for Cathey and others in the passing game. Gaytan threw for 1,732 yards on 110 completions with 15 touchdowns to only six in- terceptions. He also added 254 yards rushing on the ground. Kellan Hicks (5-8, 165, Jr.) will see more time in the back- field this year after rushing for 177 yards on 22 carries and scoring three times. He can also catch the ball out of the backfield or lineup as a wide receiver. Logan Biggs (6-1, 245, Sr.) is the Bombers top offensive lineman at center. He will lead a group that includes Ryder Russell (6-3, 250, Sr.) at tackle after mov- ing from tight end and Cory Keasler (5-9, 210, Sr.) who makes the move to guard from fullback. Willy Cramer saw some action at running back last year and figures to have a much larger role in 2022.

DEFENSE

Several names will dot the defensive lineup including Cathey who will start at safety where he made 87 tackles a year ago. Biggs is a force on the line. Last season he recorded 76 tackles and four sacks. Russell will slide to defensive end giving the Bombers someone who can set the edge while Keasler will start at linebacker with Alex Matthews (5-10, 200, Jr.). Keasler notched 80 tackles while Matthews grabbed 95. Look for Hicks in the secondary at one of the corner positions. Hicks accounted for 71 tackles and one interception last year. The plan on defense is to run the 4-3 and play very aggressive.
