Ardmore Area FFA Spotlight – Byng’s Torri Gustin- Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit

Now a junior at Byng High School, Torri Gustin decided in middle school that she wanted to be part of the FFA chapter at her school. That decision has allowed Gustin to be part of some great activities and meet some memorable people.

“I joined FFA my eight-grade year, then I took a break and joined back for my sophomore year,” said Gustin. “Most of my friends were joining and my brother had been involved too so I decided to join as well.”

One reason the FFA is high on so many students’ lists are the opportunities each student has to excel at many different programs within the FFA. For Gustin, the people and the challenge are two reasons the FFA was the right place for her.

“Something I like most about FFA are the friendships, challenges, and opportunities it provides,” said Gustin. “I’ve done opening ceremonies contest in the past and I’m a member of the nursery/landscape team.”

This year Gustin plans to show her goat and serve as an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes while playing both softball and basketball.

The junior said her father has been a big influence on her life and her future plans include going to college.

“A big influence in my life would be my dad. He’s the hardest worker and most selfless person I know. I’m very thankful for him and all he does for my family and I,” said Gustin. “After I graduate, I plan on attending Oklahoma State University and hopefully get accepted into medical school to pursue a career as a PA.”

Gustin said she loves playing sports and being around her teammates.

“I’d say my favorite thing about being on the softball team would just be the environment. My teammates are some of my best friends and I’m so thankful for the way we constantly push and encourage each other, on and off the field.”
