Plainview’s Jace Chaney – Presented by Henry Roberts Pharmacy

Jace Chaney is a multisport athlete for the Indians of Plainview High School. He says that throughout his life, he has had a number of people that have had an impact on him and helped him become the athlete and the person that he is today.
“My dad is my biggest role model,” Jace said. “I look up to how hard he works. Also, my sister is an influence on me because growing up she was always better than me at everything and it forced me to work harder. My golf instructor Steve Ball has had a big impact on my life because he has taught me how to stay mentally strong even when things aren’t going well.”

In his junior season, Chaney plays both basketball and golf for the Indians. He says that throughout his years of playing sports, he has made a lot of memories. But he says that there is one moment on the golf course that stands out as his favorite.

“I think the highlight moment of my career is the first round of the state tournament during my sophomore year when I shot 69 and was winning.”

The guys that Chaney practices and competes alongside are a solid team. He says that they do a great job of working hard and helping each other.

“A teammate that I enjoy working against everyday in golf is Hudson Hobbs,” he stated. “Ever since he started playing golf we have always pushed each other everyday to get better. Carter Fernando and Caden Pyles are both very good players and work very hard to be successful. In basketball I like to work with Jason Dotson because he is a very skilled player and we like to talk trash to each other.”

Whenever he has some downtime, Jace enjoys checking his social media and he has a local NBA player that he enjoys following.

“My favorite person I follow on social media is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander,” Chaney said. “I like his mentality about things and I like his style.”
