Altus Football Preview: Defense – Presented by Cattlemens Bank

Head coach – Dusty Davis

2021: 1-9

A few names may see time on both sides of the ball, but overall the defense may be the strength early on in the season. “We will be running a 4-2-5 defense,” said coach Davis. “We will focus on stopping the run. We will play an aggressive, fundamentally sound defense.” Grey Winsett (6-0, 230, Jr.) should see plenty of time on the interior of the defensive line. Setting the edge up front is Brodie Rogers (6-3, 195, So.). Rogers will be tough for people to handle. Kelby Bates (5-11, 215, So.) and Kylin Monday (6-1, 200, Sr.) are a pair of linebackers that play fast and swarm to the ball. The secondary features Cole Kuhn (5-9, 140, Sr.). A speedy defensive back who loves to ballhawk. Look for a few underclassmen to make immediate impacts this season.
