Zac DeLong is a graduate of Lawton MacArthur High School and is currently a baseball player at Cameron University.
“I graduated from MacArthur High School back in 2019,” DeLong said. “I’m currently a sophomore in the classroom but I have four years of eligibility left on the field.”
DeLong is majoring in Sports and Exercise Science at Cameron University.
Coming out of high school, DeLong said Cameron was close to home and he wanted to represent Lawton.
“Cameron University was the right school because I grew up in Lawton and I thought it would be cool to represent Lawton by playing baseball at Cameron,” said DeLong.
As a college athlete, DeLong said Cameron University has been great and he loves his teammates.
“I love how everyone is involved and that everyone wants the best for each and every athlete,” DeLong said. “I love how everyone is close and I can always count on any of them.”
Going from high school to college is a bit of a challenge for some. Add athletics into the mix and it’s certainly as adjustment to your new lifestyle. DeLong offered this advice for students entering college for the first time.
“I would tell them to just relax and take it all in. College is a learning experience that will change you for the rest of your life. Just be patient and find your own path,” said DeLong.
In his free time, DeLong said he enjoys spending time with family and giving hitting lessons to youth baseball players at D-Bat in Lawton.
