Players to Watch

Boys Basketball

Carson Coats – Big Pasture

Very fast, athletic guard that plays bigger than his size and is an outstanding finisher 

Landon Ellis – Comanche

Hardest working player on the floor every night and someone who doesn’t quit, which keeps his team focused and in the game. 

Zane Petty – Duncan

Zane will be a key player for the Demons this season. 

Mcray Weber – Empire

Mcray has started since he was a freshman. McCray’s improvement throughout the years has been impressive. While consistently averaging in the double digits, he has always found ways to get the rest of the team involved.

Spencer Crain – Geronimo

After a solid season a year ago, Crain has put in a lot of work in the offseason to get even better.

Arzhonte Dallas – Lawton MacArthur

Arzhonte will end up being a 1,500 point scorer for the Highlanders for his career. He can score at all three levels, can defend at a high level, and competes every play. 

Josiah Johnson – Marlow

Josiah is a very good scorer from all areas of the court with excellent size.

Jacob Caveness – Rush Springs

Young athletic kid who will be the heartbeat of the team. He will be the go-to guy who will play hard on both ends of the floor. 

Tyler Stewart – Velma-Alma

A four year starter, Stewart is an outstanding big man with great hands and feet. 

Girls Basketball

Gracee Miller – Comanche

Explosive guard who gets to the rim, very active on both ends of the court. 

Kaylee Foster – Duncan

Kaylee led the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists a year ago. She plays with a lot of passion and energy. 

Elizabeth McCarthy – Geronimo

She should join the 1,000 point club this season. Liz was MVP of the Southern 8 conference last year. She is an outstanding shooter. 

Ky’Lan Seaton – Lawton Eisenhower

She was Freshman of the year, Fellowship of Christian Athlete of the month, 1st team all-conference, and second-team all-conference.

Kaylee White – Rush Springs

Kaylee is an experienced, high-intensity player, who, if it hadn’t been for Covid, would have had a monster Junior year; but is back stronger and focused on showing out as a Senior.

Ashlynn Spurlock – Temple

Ashlynn is a great all-around player with a great combination of speed, athleticism, and court savy.

Shain Ille – Velma-Alma

Shain will be a fourth-year starter and has been a tremendous asset to the Lady Comets over these last few years. She will be expected to be the team leader in many areas this season but none more important than leadership. 

Underclassmen to Watch

Boys Basketball

Briar Blair – Comanche

Very skilled and talented player who will benefit immensely from a change of play and added emphasis on him in the offense.

Mason Imel – Duncan

Imel is a great kids that always works hard.

Madden Padilla – Lawton MacArthur

Madden will be a big-time player for the Highlanders this season, a high-level competitor and a skilled defender.

Girls Basketball

Addie Siess – Duncan

Addie has tremendous energy on the court and has a passion for the game.

Talia McCray – Lawton Eisenhower

Talia is a talented Freshman who works hard and is committed to excellence.

Blayd Harris – Marlow

Blayd is a very good scorer but also gets everyone else involved in the offense.

Unsung Heroes

Boys Basketball

Xander Dodd – Comanche

Long, rangy athlete who just waits for his opportunities and makes the most of them.

Jamel Graves – Lawton MacArthur

Jamel is an outstanding player that will make an impact this season.

Avery Payne – Marlow

Avery is not the leading scorer but is the most versatile player both defensively and offensively. 

Girls Basketball

Caity Blair – Comanche

Workhorse who brings her best every day. 

Kyndle Ledford – Duncan

Knydle is the primary ball-handler and she does all the little things that do not show up in the stat sheet. 

Olivia Choney – Lawton Eisenhower

She won the 2020 Ada All-Tournament Award, was a 2x State Qualifier, and is also involved in various school leadership roles, including Student Council and Ignition.
