Lawton & Duncan Area Editor’s Choice “Super 7” and Fans Choice – Presented by Rib Crib

These are the top seven players in the Lawton/Duncan area hub, ranked by VYPE editors regardless of position.

#1 Rylan Hitt – NG – Senior – Elgin

At 6-foot-2, 285-pounds, Rylan Hitt is tough for any offensive lineman to stop, which is why he will likely face double-teams all year. Hitt makes everyone around him better.

#2 TreVaughn Walton – RB – Senior – Eisenhower

An elusive runner, Walton gained 1,117 yards and scored 12 touchdowns as a junior. Expect Walton to lead the offense this season and rack up a ton of yards behind a solid line.

#3 Devin Simpson – RB/WR – Senior – Lawton

Simpson is the type of player who can play multiple positions and be great at all of them. Expect to see Simpson lined up in multiple ways this season as they look to get him the ball and let him go to work.

#4 Devin Bush – LB – Senior – MacArthur

Bush has gone both ways for MacArthur but look for him to excel at linebacker this season as coach Manning looks for him to develop into their top linebacker for 2021.

#5 Jace Gilbert – QB – Senior – Marlow

As a junior Gilbert threw for more than 1,700 yards with 17 touchdowns. There isn’t much Gilbert can’t do. He is the team’s kicker and punter as well. Look for all-state type numbers in 2021.

#6 Tristan Wainscott – QB/LB – Senior – Velma-Alma

A guy known for going over 1,000 yards on the ground and through the air, Wainscott can hurt you either way. Expect this to be his best effort in his final season of high school ball.

#7 Gabe Diaz – RB/QB/DE – Sophomore – Empire

An electric player for Empire, Gabe Diaz rarely leaves the field. Last season he over 1,500 yards rushing with 31 touchdowns while on defense he grabbed 47 tackles.

FANS CHOICE

Based on fan voting in the Lawton/Duncan area hub, here are the top players at seven positions.

OFFENSE

Quarterback: Haygon Jennings – Rush Springs

Jennings completed ten passes for 112 yards and two scores last season. He is ready to hit the field and make a bigger impression.

Wide Receiver/Tight End: Ethan Bandy – Bray-Doyle

Bandy enters the season ready to take a big step after a five catches for 115 yards and four rushes for thirty yards.

Running Back: Preston Bruehl – Duncan

A solid runner out of the backfield, Bruehl will be an offensive weapon this season.

Offensive Lineman: Kaleb Ray – Rush Springs

Ray will be a big blocker up front for the guys in the backfield.

DEFENSE

Linebacker: Kyle Wilson – Marlow

Wilson is a great kid and a hard worker.

Defensive Back: Micah Wise – Eisenhower

Patrolling the secondary, Wise has the speed and size to keep opposing receiver at bay.

Defensive Lineman: Darius Coppage – Lawton Ike

Coppage will cause problems for opponents this season.
