Duncan Football Spotlight – Chago Barham – Presented by Bank of Commerce

Going into his junior year, Chago Barham, a middle linebacker for the Duncan Demons knows what it takes to get the job done. Barhman is a multi-sport star and excels on the baseball diamond as well as the gridiron. Heading into the fall he’s focused on football and is ready and prepared to have a big season.

“I think to be a good football player you have to have determination,” Barham said. “You have to put in the work day in and day out.”

But for Barhman that’s not all. He knows it’s important to not overlook the little details in practice, or simply go through the motions during the week.

“It’s about having a good work ethic and doing all the little stuff right to prepare you for those Friday nights,” Barham said.

For the Demons, this year will be a chance to show growth and maturity after fielding young squads in recent years.  Head coach JT Cobble noted that the Demons have had underclassmen playing significant minutes and now those players have grown and gained experience.

Barham is one of those players that has played since his freshman year and made an impact. He recalled one of his favorite football memories occurred in his freshman year when he intercepted his first pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Now with more experience, Barham and the Demons have eyes on a bigger prize.

“I want to make the playoffs this year and put up some good numbers on offense and defense,” Barham said.

Barham thanks his family for support and helping him achieve everything that he has so far in his young career.

“My family is my biggest inspiration,” Barham said. “They give me everything I need to help my athletic career and education. They are always there for me and they tell me to never give up and never fail. They love me.”

Although Barham enjoys football, baseball is his true passion, saying that he has an outrageous love for the sport. After high school he plans to play baseball in college and further his education.
