Elgin’s Kamber Crow talks influences, favorite memory from freshman year – Presented by Arvest Bank

By Scott Metz

Being a softball player requires a great deal of skill and agility. For Elgin High School softball player Kamber Crow, she can be considered especially talented. As a freshman, she’s tasked with the responsibilities of playing right field and third base for the Elgin Owls.

When Crow plays third base, she is not only responsible for covering third base, but also fielding any balls from teammates to try to get the hitter out, as well as being able to throw to the catcher to cause an out.

As a right fielder, Crow oversees backing up the center fielders on balls hit to center field, and the first baseman on hits and throws to third base.

Kamber’s start in softball began at the incredibly young age of 4 years old.

Crow gets joy from simply being a part of the team. Crow said, “My favorite part of softball is being around the team.”

Many memories are created in high school sports. Crow reflected on her favorite memory: “My favorite memory of softball is when my teammate Kelby put eye black on me even if I didn’t want it.”

In terms of who has inspired Crow thus far in her life, she looks to both family and her team as the source. She stated, “My papa and my coaches have really influenced me the most.”

As far as her favorite athlete, Crow noted a University of Oklahoma softball player.

“My favorite athlete is Jayda Coleman,” Crow said. “She just has this energy that seems to get everyone fired up.”

For academics, Crow’s favorite subject is math.

After she graduates high school, Crow aspires to pursue higher education. Kamber proclaimed, “I want to go to college and attend either The University of Oklahoma or Cameron University.”

Off the softball field, and outside the classroom, Crow said, “I like to hang out with family, and friends, and play blitz ball.”
