RUSH SPRINGS REDSKINS
Coach – MASON ANTHONY
OFFENSE
Optimism is running high at Rush Springs High School coming into the 2021 season. Head coach Mason Anthony is excited to see what this team will develop into over the course of another season. “We have a lot of new faces that we are ready to see step up in a big way this fall,” said Anthony. “Last year was tough for everyone, but we’re happy with the renewed excitement that a new season brings and hope to get things back to normal. We’re young, but we have a roster full of guys willing to fight for each other and get better each day.” Caden Moore (5-9, 159, Sr.) is one of five returning starters to the lineup. Moore had 653 yards rushing and eight touchdowns last year. Wide receiver Jacob Caveness (5-11, 140, Jr.) caught nine passes for 236 yards and two scores as a sophomore. Quarterback Haygon Jennings (5-10, 150, Jr.) was 10 of 21 last year with a couple of scores to his credit. Gabe Scott (6-0, 200, So.) and Kaleb Ray (6-0, 215, Sr.) will anchor the offensive line for the Redskins.
DEFENSE
Several players will go both ways for the Redskins including Moore who will start at outside linebacker. Moore had 54 tackles and eight sacks last year. Caveness will start in the secondary where he made 37 tackles and grabbed three interceptions. Ray starts at defensive end where he made 22 tackles last year. Wyatt Foster (5-10, 140, Jr.) made 20 tackles from his linebacker spot and Colton Heston (6-0, 180, Jr.) had 10 tackles and a sack at end. Heston burst onto the scene as a sophomore with his toughness and eagerness to help his team win. Jennings is another secondary player with a nose for the ball. The 4-2-5 defense fits the talent for the Redskins. Look for sound, simple and physical play with 11 helmets swarming to the ball. Also look for Dalton Melton, a four-sport athlete and one of the leaders on the team.
