RUSH SPRINGS REDSKINS

GIRLS

Coach: David Rosenberg

2022-23 Record: 16-6

Third-year Rush Springs girls coach David Rosenberg brings back several significant contributors from a team that only dropped six losses last year, starting with Kimberly Fox (Jr.), who ended her sophomore season averaging just short of a double-double with 12.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. “She’s a little undersized as a post player, but her athleticism and competitiveness make her extremely effective inside. She will also serve as one of our main ball-handlers, as well. Able to score from all three areas on the floor, Kim is an extremely tough matchup,” Rosenberg said. “Her grit and toughness was hardly, if ever, matched by anyone we played against. I believe she is going to breakout big time in her junior year.” MacKayla Clark (Sr.) moved to Rush Springs from Kansas last year. By the end of the season, she was a staple in Rosenberg’s system. “Going into this year, she’ll be our main ball-handler as well as a scoring threat from the post and the 3-point line. Great work ethic, loves to compete,” Rosenberg said. Carly Melton (So.) was a talented freshman a year ago but has made remarkable strides. “Carly will be a sophomore this season. She has done a tremendous job of working her way into the starting lineup. The thing is, Carly has a major hearing impairment. She’s been wearing hearing aids since I’ve known her and just recently had a cochlear implant put in for one of her ears,” Rosenberg said. “I can’t imagine how challenging it is to play a sport that requires a ton of communication when you can’t hear most of it, but she’s finding ways to make those adjustments.” Rush Springs opens the season at home Nov. 28 against Carnegie. The Redskins will play in the Wilson Tournament on Dec. 7-9; the 41st Annual Black Diamond Classic on Jan. 4-6; and the Grady County Tournament on Jan. 15-20.
