Central Marlow’s Jamison Scott – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Central High School’s Jamison Scoot is a legacy member of the FFA chapter at school and a member of the varsity basketball team.

“I was able to officially join FFA in 2021 as an eighth grader. However, I began showing livestock when I was seven years old. It’s been a family affair. My sister Madelyn is eight years older than me, and my brother Riley is six years older. They got a head start on me and have always been encouraging in showing me the way. Both of them are State and American FFA Degree recipients,” said Scott.

Now a sophomore at Central, Scott is building an impressive resume in FFA. Showing livestock is just one of the activities Scott is involved in with the chapter.

“Showing livestock competitively across the country has allowed me to see a lot of the country and develop friendships literally across the U.S. I also really enjoy public speaking for much the same reasons. In addition to showing livestock, I have been involved in public speaking, parliamentary procedure, meats, milk, livestock, and land judging,” said Scott.

Scott serves as an FFA officer, serves with STUCO, FCA, is the sophomore class president and plays basketball and baseball. Scott said FFA is more than livestock and offers something for everyone.

“The FFA is much more than just showing livestock. No matter what you might be interested in there is an activity for you that you will develop a passion for,” said Scott.

As for basketball season, Scott said the team is young but starting to come together.

“Currently, we are a very young team with only one senior. Since we are a small school, most of us have been together for a while so we are like a big family. We all have an extremely competitive nature which allows us to hold each other accountable and push one another to get better. Our coach has really set the tone for our program and its family. I love that we are all a family for one another and in it together,” said Scott.
