CHICKASHA FIGHTING CHICKS

ERIC GIBSON

4-6

OFFENSE

Entering his first year as head coach, new Chickasha head coach Eric Gibson is working with a relatively blank slate. Gibson does have several talented returners that he can lean on as he tries to lay a foundation for success this season. Offensively, the Fighting Chicks will use show a spread formation as they try to find good matchups to take what the defense gives them. Leading the offensive is quarterback Cade Rayburn (6-2, 180, Jr.). Joining him in the backfield is VYPE Top 100 running back Ma’lek Murphy (6-1, 205, Sr.). Murphy averaged nearly 100 yards per game last year and will look to have a standout senior season. Gibson says Murphy is a three-sport athlete that can beat defenses with both speed and strength. Out wide, Trevor Caveness (5-10, 165, Sr.) will look to become the go-to target this year for Rayburn. Up front a trio of linemen return to give Chickasha stability and familiarity along the line. Those three linemen are Cecil Robinson (6-5, 305, Jr.), Christian Larson (6-2, 250, Sr.), and Ty Rayburn (6-1, 250, Sr.).

DEFENSE

Defensively, Chickasha will use an odd front formation as their base. The goal of the Chickasha defense is to make the opposing offensive one dimensional. Ty Rayburn will defense from his end position as he looks to blow up more plays in offensive backfield. At linebacker, Logan Palesano (6-0, 180, Sr.) will look to be the quarterback of the defense and get every in the right position. One underclassman to watch is Tyren Alexander. Gibson says Alexander is a true leader on and off the field with his energetic personality and great work ethic. Entering just his sophomore year, Gibson says Alexander has already earned the respect of the entire team and is looked up as a leader.
