VYPE: How long have you been coaching? How long at Altus?

Chad Walker: 27 years, first year in Altus.

VYPE: Do you teach? If so, which subject(s)?

CW: Senior English.

VYPE: Who or what inspired you to become a coach?

CW: My father coached his entire career from HS athletics to Division II.

VYPE: What are some of the greatest lessons you’ve learned in coaching so far in your career?

CW: Have patience, fundamentals are extremely important, there is life after basketball.

VYPE: What challenges should new coaches be prepared to face? And what advice would you give them?

CW: Family dynamics have changed, parenting has changed, but kids are still kids. They want to fall in love with the game, experience success, make memories.

VYPE: What does it mean to be an Altus Bulldog?

CW: Once a bulldog always a bulldog
