Q & A with Hollis’ Jaycee McFerrin Presented by Harmon Memorial Hospital

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Jaycee: The Bahamas and I would take Makenzie,Tori, Promise, Keke, Lincoln,Wyatt,Kadyn, and Kreid. Nobody can compare to my little friend group. It would be the best time.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Jaycee: I would say thank you to all my family. My family is so big and they all support me so much.. My coaches, Derick Hodges and Reagan Hightower for putting up with me and always being so encouraging, and then my pitching coach Curtis. He has really helped me get to where I am today.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Jaycee: Chick-fil-A chicken and fries.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Jaycee: Coach Hodges is my biggest inspiration because he always pushes me to be my best. He isn’t afraid to put me in my place, but he also picks me up when I’m down.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Jaycee: Mrs. Bates is the sweetest person and just seeing her makes my day better. She always has something encouraging to say to me.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Jaycee: I love representing Hollis because of how great the community is. They always show up big time for us. They get me really pumped up and it makes me want to do my best.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Jaycee: Marlie Robinson. I didn’t get to play with her but I was the Manager her Senior year. She left the biggest impression on me because she was always positive and never put anyone down. She has the biggest heart and she is exactly who I want to be like.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Jaycee: Coach Hodges told me that if you make an error that I need to just shake it off and always make up for it on the next play.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Jaycee: Well it’s the only sport I can actually play and compete in. I love all the life lessons it can teach you and I always want to do my best at it.
