OUTLOOK
Hollis returns a wealth of experience from a team that went 29-10 last season under head coach Derick Hodges. “Returning two-thirds of our starting lineup from 2022. We will be led by seniors Jaylee Randolph and Morgan Robinson, who have been waiting on their opportunity to be at the top,” Hodges said. “We will have some young good talent on the field behind these couple of seniors and it will be a very fun group to coach. We hosted district playoffs in 2022 for only the second time in school history and also made regionals. We look to make that the norm in Hollis now as the program has seen some success and our goals continue to grow.” The Tigers return an important piece to their success in sophomore pitcher Jaycee McFerrin, who is a VYPE Top 100 candidate. “She looks to have a promising high school career after having an outstanding freshman year,” Hodges said. “She’s a very talented pitcher.”
Randolph and Robinson will hold down leadership roles for Hollis. Randolph can play multiple positions and hit close to .400 as a junior, while Robinson is a multisport athlete who has high character on and off the field. Karlee McFerrin is an athletic incoming freshman who will hit near the top of the lineup and can play any position on the field. Sophomore Tori Whisenant will play a role in the infield after a productive freshman season. “Received the most improved player as a freshman starter in 2022 and quietly goes about her business and works very hard to help the team however needed. A lot of athletic potential in multiple sports,” Hodges said. Mattie Brown is another senior on the roster and will provide contributions in the outfield. Juniors who will play roles in 2023 include outfielders Reality Atkins and Chelsea Pantoja, and outfielders/infielders Presley Riley and Peyton Dugger. Other sophomores are outfielder Joselyn Nunez, and outfielders/infielders Emree Eastep, Jayla Jones, Mareli Saldana and Jolie Pantoja. Freshman infielder/outfielder Josie Robinson will also play a role.
