9 Questions with Altus’ Telsie Butler – Presented by Frazer Bank

Altus’ Telsie Butler spoke to VYPE in an interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this year is to continue to better myself in wrestling and to get 1st at state.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is being able to compete and represent my school and team.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me would have to be Connor Nunez, because he likes to work hard and strives to be better as I do so that gives me some motivation.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on the team is the bond that everyone has,we are like a big family and everyone wants to help any and everyone be the best that they can be.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

The club that I’m involved in helping with is the Team Worx program, from time to time I’ll go help and lead by example for the younger athletes.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Wrestling has taught me a lot, wrestling has taught me to be strong,self-controlled,diligence,discipline,compassion,and to be brave and strong-minded.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice that anyone has given me was from my mom “failure isn’t failure if you learn something from it!” Is what she would tell me, she’s also always told me to keep my head up and always give it my best!

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

The people that inspire me the most would be my mom,my coaches, and my teammates. My mom inspires me because she’s the strongest person I know, she was a single mother working and raising 4 kids as I was growing up,she’s always been a hard worker, I look up to her so much, she’s made me the strong women that I am today. My coaches, Keilan and Mike Torrez have inspired and taught me everything I know about wrestling, so for that I am very grateful and thankful that my coaches always push me to be my best! My teammates inspire me to do my very best because I want to be a good leader and set good examples for my fellow teammates.

I’d like to shoutout my mother, Tellie Darden, my coaches, Keilan and Mike Torrez, my fellow teammates Connor Nunez and Janice Rodriguez, I’m so grateful and thankful for each of them. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without them!
