Marlow’s Kinley Castle – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

Marlow High School’s Kinley Castle is no stranger to the barn and livestock. The Marlow freshman has grown up around animals, farming and ranching her entire life.

“I started showing registered Herefords when I was about five years old, but have taken the last few years off to concentrate on rodeo more,” said Castle.

Castle is a new member of the FFA chapter at school, which she joined after some encouragement from the Ag teacher at school.

“Mr. Kennon encouraged me to join FFA and get involved and is the best Ag teacher,” Castle said. “I enjoy hanging out with my friends that have the same interest as me and doing the competitions.”

As a member of the FFA program Castle is involved in green hand, livestock judging and the upcoming creed and agronomy. She also runs track, plays basketball, is a member of the cheer squad and the rodeo team and serves as freshman class secretary.

Castle said anyone interested in FFA should join and enjoy everything the program has to offer.

“You get to do a lot of fun stuff, meet lots of new people, and make some of your best friends. There is a little bit of everything no matter what you like,” Castle said. “You also might find you like something you knew nothing about.”

The freshman said her father has been a big influence in her life and her teammates on the basketball team are always there for her.

“My dad has been my biggest influence. He encourages me no matter what I am doing and is always positive no matter the situation and believes in me,” Castle said. “The thing I love most about being on the basketball team is how much we encourage each other and life each other up.”
