Altus Basketball Spotlight – Parish Norfleet – Presented by Cattlemens Bank

Parish Norfleet is a junior at Altus High School and plays for the Lady Bulldog basketball team. Basketball has been an important part of Norfleet’s life and it has taught her how to become a leader and to keep pushing and fighting through adversity no matter what.

Norfleet has enjoyed her time in Altus and is thankful for the many wonderful relationships she has been able to form with friends, teammates, and teachers in the community. Norfleet said that her teachers Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Sager made a big impact on her life and she felt comforted by their support and felt that they always had her back.

On the court Norfleet has made some great bonds as well. Norfleet said her favorite about being on a team is all the support that everyone gives to each other.

“If someone is having a bad day it’s nice knowing there are teammates that will pick you up and have your back,” Norfleet said. “The teammate that left the biggest impression on me is Abby Bates. She was my best friend when times were rough for us and were there for each other and I could never be thankful enough for her giving me rides and just being my best friend.”

At home Norfleet is thankful for the support of her dad and step mom.

“My dad is the one who inspires me. He has always been there for me and fought for me and pushed me to be the player and person I am today,” Norfleet said. “The words can’t explain how much I love him! I would also like to say I am very thankful for my step mom. She has motivated me as well. After the hard talks with my dad she was there as well to make sure I was okay!”

Basketball has been an opportunity for Norfleet to grow closer with friends and family over the years as well as learning many valuable life skills and lessons.

“I am so passionate about basketball because it has been the sport I have played since I was a little kid,” Norfleet said. “Me and my dad would bond over it and he made me the player I am today.”
