Altus Cheer Senior Class Q&A – Presented by Jackson County Orthopedic Clinic

The Altus Cheer seniors reflected on their time together as the class of 2023 nears graduation.

VYPE: As seniors what message have you tried to share with the underclassmen? Is there anything you wish you learned sooner when you were freshmen or sophomores?

Class of ’23: As seniors we do our very best to be the best leaders for our underclassmen. We are always telling them so stay positive and work hard no matter how our practices are going. We definitely wish someone would have warned us about how fast the time flies and to soak it all up. It all came faster than we ever thought!

VYPE: What has been the most fun the team has spent traveling for a competition, game, or event?

Class of ’23: The bus rides to games or competitions are always fun! We entertain ourselves by playing music and having a dance party, or even just talking with each other and laughing. Being able to laugh and have fun with the whole team and seeing our bond come alive makes every bus ride memorable.

VYPE: Has the team come up with any rituals or motivational habits to get hyped up before big competitions or spirit events?

Class of ’23: One way we get hyped up before a competition and during practice is every year we come up with a chant that we do before each full out! They always seem to be our good luck charm. Another thing we do before competitions is we always have team dinners and the cheer moms cook for us and give us little goodie bags full of stuff that we can use for the competition. They’re always so fun!

VYPE: Who on the team is the most likely to make everyone laugh? Who is the most competitive?

Class of ’23: This is honestly a really difficult question. The whole team is always laughing and enjoying each other’s presence, that’s what makes the team so great, however we say that Emma Gregg or Karley Froelich are always having a positive mindset and making sure everyone stays happy during those tough practices. This team is a competitive one, however some specific ones that are always striving to make our team better for a win are Nyla Ball and definitely our coaches Kacie and Nicole.

VYPE: If this senior class could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

Class of ’23: One thing that is so special about us is that we have always been a close class of cheerleaders since freshman year. Even outside of cheer we are all best friends and are always hanging out, having fun and laughing together. If we were to be known for one thing it would be that we are great leaders because we are so close. We have great communication skills and are always striving to be the ones to step up for our team.
