OFFENSE

Joe Price and the Plainview Indians return six starters on offense in 2022 and will have a mix of veteran leadership and talented underclassmen looking to make an impact on the field. Morgan Pear- son (6-3, 225, Sr.) is an outstanding talent that can produce from anywhere on the field. Pearson is a VYPE Top 100 athlete and has received scholarship offers from Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Arkansas, and several other Division I programs. Injuries derailed Pearson’s 2021 season, but he still managed over 500 yards and 6 touchdowns in limited action. After getting healthy over the summer, Pearson is looking to have a tremendous senior season. Garrett Keith (6-4, 285, Sr.) and Hunter Freeman (5-10, 225, Sr.) bring experience to the offensive line. Justus Gilliam (6-1, 250, So.) started last year as a freshman, the first freshman to start for Price on the offensive line in nearly a decade and is already receiving interest from Division I programs. Gilliam is a multi-sport athlete and placed second in heavyweight wrestling and qualified for state in shot put and discus. Grant Graves (Jr.) is taking over at quarterback after grow- ing and maturing into a leader over his first two years. He’ll look to form a connection with Shepard Sisiemore (6-2, 185, So.) a long receiver with great size and speed when lined up outside. Blake Stewart (6-1, 205, Jr.) will handle the majority of carries and looks to make an impact out of the backfield.

DEFENSE

The Indians base out of a 4-3 cover two defense. “We want to be sound in alignment and find ways to blitz and stunt with the defensive line to bring pressure, “Price said. “The goal is to force turnovers.” Plainview has six returning start- ers on defense with lots of skill and depth across the board. Tyler Wichester (6-1, 180, Sr.) is a lockdown defensive back with tremendous instinct and hands. In 2021 he had 41 tackles, broke up 12 passes, and three interceptions. Matt Hanna (6-2, 225, Sr.) is an edge rusher that has no trouble getting to the quarterback. Last year he accounted for 44 tackles and three sacks.Ethan Douglas (5-9, 245, Sr.) has another season under his belt and is looking to end his career with the Indians on a high note after 29 tackles in 2021. Freeman, Pearson, and Stewart will all appear in defensive roles as well and rotate through different positions and packages as needed.
