OFFENSE

The Healdton Bulldogs and head coach Taner Richardson head into the 2022 season with six starters returning on offense. Richardson enters his third season coaching the Bulldogs and is looking forward to seeing how his team performs this year with their spread run attack. Leading the way is Beau Bradberry (6-0, 165, Sr.) at quarterback. Bradberry is a coach’s son and football has been ingrained in his brain from an early age. Last season Bradberry had over 1,100 total yards and 12 touchdowns. This year he’ll look to get the ball to playmakers in space and lead the offense in a balanced attack. Isaac Evan (So.) should play significant minutes on the offensive line this season after an impressive fresh- man season and solid off- season in the weight room. Look for Nick Timmons and Clay Pickelsimer to make appearances as well. Timmons has been battling lymphoma over the past two years and has recently been cleared to play even while undergoing chemo- therapy treatments. Pickelsimer has been dealing with a serious heart issue and has also recently been given clearance to suit up and join his teammates.

DEFENSE

Six starters return to the Bulldog base 4-4 defense. Richardson wants his team to follow the “bend, don’t break” philosophy and keep everything underneath them to limit big plays. Jason Jocey (5-10, 265, Jr.) is a force on the defensive front and anchors the line in the trenches. Don’t look twice when twins Toby and Jerad Aycox (Sr.) cover the middle at linebacker. Coaches have praised each on their incredible work ethic and willingness to compete. Jesse Gutierrez (6-0, 150, Jr.) contains the edge from his position at outside line- backer with good length and instincts. Johnny Gutierrez (6-3, 150, Sr.) is an athletic cornerback with good height and hands. He can blanket wide receivers anywhere on the field while Bradyberry roams in the secondary at free safety.
