Duncan Mom Spotlight with Tanya Rochell – Presented by Simply Nutrition

Stay-at-home mom to two rowdy boys, Tanya Rochell, keeps herself busy volunteering with the Duncan Youth Wrestling Club. You know that Tanya loves helping when you hear her describe volunteering in the best way.

“I give my time and my love,” said Tanya. “Nothing beats a smile; I volunteer to see happiness. Rather it be a kid that just had his or her first ever arm raise in a wrestling match or a kid’s first time to ever get on base. Their smiles of success, when they have worked so hard, is a true moment of happiness for me.”

Not only does Tanya love volunteering she believes it is very necessary as parents.

“I believe our role as parents is to keep the athlete encouraged and be their ear to listen, while also putting your trust in the athlete’s coach and mentor,” Tanya said.

Tanya started volunteering just four years ago, and it continues to hold a special place in her life.

“The kids, the coaches, and the families in the club captured my heart,” Tanya said. “We are a big family, and it is hard not to go the extra mile for them.”

Currently Tanya holds the official title of secretary for the Duncan Youth Wrestling Club and the unofficial role and title as the Director of Fun.

Tanya is a wife, mother, volunteer, and a cancer survivor. After battling a rare form of cancer and winning that battle, Tanya now has an amazing outlook on life.

“My battle made me who I am,” Tanya said. “Made me realize I was chosen to live, to give, to try and give as many smiles as I can.”
