Rush Spring’s Luke Scott – FFA Spotlight Presented by Ok Ag Credit

Luke Scott

Rush Springs High School

It was his freshman year when Luke Scott of Rush Springs High School first got involved in his local FFA chapter. That was 2017. Today, Scott is part of STUCO and plays varsity football for Rush Springs, all while maintaining a high level of involvement in FFA.

“I had always wanted to join FFA just because I loved being in the shop and around animals all the time. Tell Cross encouraged me a lot to join FFA,” said Scott. “I am also involved in Student Council where I represent them as treasurer. I’m also involved in football where I was the team captain this past season.”

For Scott, being part of FFA has allowed him to try various things within the chapter. From showing animals and judging to mechanics, Scott has been very active learning as much as he can before he graduates.

“I’m involved in Ag mechanics mainly. I do some livestock judging every once in a while, and I am involved in some local leadership activities as well,” said Scott. “What I enjoy mostly in FFA is getting out in the shop and in the show barn and being able to help those younger kids and maybe teach them a thing or two.”

His sophomore year Scott did show an Angus Heifer giving him that experience of being in the ring and showing an animal. Trying something new is what Scott has done the entire time he’s been in FFA and it’s the advice he gives younger students.

“Some advice I’d give someone that’s thinking about joining the FFA would be, don’t be afraid to step out of the box and try something new. You may end up loving it more than you think,” said Scott.

Scott credits his Ag teacher for influencing him in school and in life.

“The person who has influenced me the most in my life would be my Ag teacher. Everyday he’s always pushing me to be a better person and a better student in every way possible. He always supports me in anything I do even if it has nothing to do with Ag or FFA, he is going support me,” Scott said.
