OFFENSE

Mangum returns nine players on both sides of the ball, after going 5-4 a season ago. Quarterback Brody Shelby (6-0, 175, Jr.) will return for the Tigers, after he racked up over 2,000 total yards and 15 touchdowns. Shelby has already started in 21 games in his high school career after starting in 13 as a freshman and all nine as a sophomore. Lamar James (5-9, 155, Sr.) plays wide receiver for the Tigers and has high expectations from the coaches. “Expecting a breakout year from this young man,” head coach Sam Powers said. James recorded over 700 yards total and nine total touchdowns. Also playing receivers are Sawyer Webb (6-0, 155, Sr.) and Luke Rogers (6-3, 165, Sr.). Webb had over 300 receiving yard and four touchdowns, while Rogers had nearly 500 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Contributing to the run game is returning running back Ashton Pride (5-8, 175, So.) who played substantial minutes as a freshman, and helped contribute two touchdowns. Expect to see Pride get more touches in 2021. Three year starting center Issac Batioja (5-11, 255, Sr.) brings experience and leadership to the offensive line.

DEFENSE

The Tiger defense adds experience to most positions on defense as well. Shelby and Webb will play this side of the ball as well, both playing at linebacker positions. Brice Ditmore (6-0, 185, Sr.) will join them, also playing linebacker. Ditmore leads all returners with 81 tackles last season. Loren Snead (6-3, 155, Sr.) returns at defensive back, and recorded five interceptions last season, a number that is expected to rise even higher in 2021. Nathan Augustine (6-3, 155, Jr.) lines up at defensive end for the Tigers and looks to add to his 13 tackles and six tackles for a loss during his sophomore season. The Tigers will run an odd front, putting pressure on offenses by disguising multiple blitzes, fronts, and stunts.
