Weatherford’s Steele Chism – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Corn Heritage Village & Rehab

Starting middle linebacker for the Weatherford Eagles, Steele Chism is entering his junior
year and is one of the top linebackers in the area.
Last season, Chism made 116 tackles and is expecting a repeat performance this year.
Steele said he loves playing on this team and loves his teammates.
“The best thing about this group is how close everyone is,” said Chism.
The team is focused and ready for another season with a challenging schedule.
“I am looking forward to getting revenge on teams that we should’ve beat last year. I’m also
looking forward to how we’re going to progress as a team this year since our potential is
very high this season. Beating Clinton last year was a big highlight for me and the team, but
I’d say the brotherhood is the thing I like the most. All the guys on the team fight for each
other and when you do that week to week you create a lifetime bond,” said Chism.
The junior said Weatherford High School is a great place to be a student-athlete.

“Weatherford High School is a phenomenal place to be a student-athlete because of all the
support from the community. Football has always been my favorite sport, but just being an
athlete made me want to play other sports. So, I play baseball and used to play basketball,
but football has always been on top,” said Chism.
Football is not his only activity. Chism is involved in FCA and STUCO and said his favorite
class in school is history.
“History has always been my favorite subject. I have all intentions of attending college. I am
undecided what I will study,” said Chism.
