Weatherford’s Logan Doyals – Athlete Spotlight – Schlegel’s Quick Lube

There’s a lot that goes into Weatherford High School senior Logan Doyals’ daily routine.

Doyals plays both football and soccer. He played safety, kicker and punter for the Eagles this fall and will feature at center back for the soccer team this spring.

“Many years of practice,” Doyals said. “It has taken a lot of time, also a lot of persistence continuing to work every day.”

It’s paid off. Doyals cites making a playoff push his freshman soccer season as one of his fondest athletic memories. He doesn’t take much for granted, expressing gratitude to everybody, down to the managers on the team.

“Although they are not a player, our managers tend to get overlooked a lot and do not get a lot of credit they deserve,” Doyals said.

Teammates Nick Jett and CJ Nickson have been crucial to Doyals’ development on the football field.

“These two have the perfect attributes to train against with Nick being very fast and agile and CJ being very big and strong. As a DB, you have to be able to adapt to both of these players,” Doyals said.

In soccer, the same is true for Anderson Pineda and Jacoby Welsh, who have helped Doyals push his own limits.

“With me playing defense, these two are the best you can go up against to train every aspect of the game,” Doyals said.

Doyals is also involved with FFA, Special Olympics and Top Soccer. The examples of his parents, the bond with his friends, and his connection to his Christian faith have helped him stay grounded with such a full plate. He gets extra help reading daily bible verses.

“It is always a good time to take a little bit and read a bible verse,” Doyals said.

Doyal thanks coach Soss, Duncan and Willis for helping him grow in school and in sports, and Mrs. Musick for her helpfulness in the classroom.

“To me, it is a blessing to be able to play for such a supported school. I am very lucky to be able to play for a town that supports every single sport,” Doyals said. “It is very important to me every single game I play as I do not want to let anyone down.”
