Kennadi Price, who stars on the track and the basketball court for the Weatherford Eagles, said while she loves being on the court, she’d rather be outside running.
“I have always loved basketball, but running is my passion,” Price said. “I love it because I get the opportunity to push my limits every day in practice and in races.”
As a senior, Price also said she understands her position on the team as a potential role model, and she said she enjoys that extra responsibility.
“I learned from the upperclassmen as I was a freshman on how to lead a team to a state championship,” she said. “The first thing I had to learn was having a winning mindset and I think I really focused on that this year with the younger girls. I just talk to them before races and interact with them during practice, and that helps them feel seen, and really emphasizes what we’re doing is important.”
Price said she’s had a number of special people in her life who have impacted her in a big way, but she wanted to mention one person specifically.
“I want to shoutout Coach Fischer,” she said. “He is the reason I am the runner I am today, and I have learned so much from him both running and life. He has impacted my life greatly.”
As for summer plans, Price said having a job has gotten in the way a bit, but she’s got a scholarship offer from OSU to get ready for.
“I’m working since I can’t during the school year because of sports,” she said. “I am starting training for OSU in June and I’m going to focus on getting better and enjoying my last summer before college.”
In her free time, Price said she works out in Clinton, spends time with her friends, and watches her brother play baseball.
