Weatherford athlete Jacoby Welsh recently completed an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
I want to graduate school as a distinguished scholar and win state with my high school team.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite memory would have to be scoring my first goal in highschool soccer against Elk City. All the love and hype the team showed me has made its mark as my favorite memory.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
AJ Stevenson and Garry Rose have left the biggest impressions on me. They were my first ever teammates in highschool sports. I’ve always looked up to them since our first Cross Country race, and I believe that they set good examples for the people around them.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being on the soccer team is all the laughs and good times we have. Also, it’s just extra time to spend with family.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I volunteer quite a bit at the local food pantry in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am currently involved with Spanish Club and Key Club. I joined both these clubs simply because I wanted to try new things.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Work hard.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” – Pitbull
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
My parents, Jarrod and Trish Welsh, are my biggest inspiration. They have always pushed me past my limits since day one, and without them I would not even be close to where I’m at today.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
To all my friends, family, teammates, teachers, and coaches of the past and present, thank you.
