Jackson Smith wants to help take Weatherford one step further in 2023-24.
The Bulldogs’ 6-foot-2 sophomore guard started every game as a freshman last season for
head coach Derrick Bull and averaged just over 4 points per game. He was a part of a 28-2
team that came one game short of winning a Class 4A state championship.
“We look for him to play an even bigger role this season for us as a sophomore,” Bull said.
“My goals are to win the Tournament of Champions and the state tournament,” said Smith,
who said competing for a state title has been his proudest moment so far.
Smith, whose strength is his passing skills, has worked to get better on his shot taking and
improving his confidence going into year two. He says his dad has been his coach since day
one and his is biggest influence.
Smith hopes to play basketball on the collegiate level once his Weatherford days are
completed.
