Weatherford senior Jordan Hoffman – athlete spotlight – Presented by Jackie Dickerson Shelter Insurance

Jordan Hoffman is a senior at Weatherford and plays for the Lady Eagles basketball team.

Last season, Hoffman and the Lady Eagles had a fantastic year and made it to the semifinal round of the Class 4A playoffs.

This year, Hoffman and her teammates are looking to make another run toward state.

“The team still remembers the pain of losing in the semifinal game once again,” Hoffman said. “The goal is to make it to the championship. We are pretty young this year, but I think with some experience and hard work we can accomplish that goal.”

Basketball has been a big part of Hoffman’s life. When she was young, Hoffman said she used to dream of playing on a big stage.

“I think my most proud moment is when we made it to the state tournament. That has always been a dream of mine,” Hoffman said. “To play in the big house and with all of these special girls is such a memorable moment.”

When Hoffman was beginning her basketball career back in YMCA leagues, she used to envision the opportunity to show off her skills. While Hoffman enjoys the competitiveness that comes from the sport she also appreciates the relationships she is able to form with her teammates and coaches.

“My favorite part about being on a team is all of the relationships to have in building something special,” Hoffman said.

One of those teammates is her sister, Addy, who also starts for the Lady Eagles. Growing up together the Hoffman sisters would always push each other to be the best they could be. “Everything has always been a competition. In any drill we do we are partners and we always match up with each other and hold each other accountable,” Hoffman said.

As Hoffman’s senior season continues, she wants to make the most of her last year with Weatherford. Next season, Hoffman will continue her basketball career at California Polytechnic State University.

“I knew Cal Poly was the right choice because of all the energy they had and I believe in the coaches’ dream of rebuilding the team and doing something special,” Hoffman said. “I am so ready to get up there and contribute to that.”
