WEATHERFORD EAGLES
Coach: RICK MORRIS
OUTLOOK
With seven starters returning from a 27-8 team, Weatherford will have soaring expectations for a run to the Class 4A State Tournament in 2023 under head coach Rick Morris. “We only lose two starters off of a very young and talented team. With that being said, the expectations here at Weatherford will be very high,” Morris said. The Eagles will be led by a group of five seniors and four juniors, including junior and VYPE Top 100 candidate Marley Teasley, who is a proven pitcher and will also boost the lineup. “Marley is a proven force in the circle and at the plate. She had an outstanding sophomore season and has continued to get better,” Morris said. Harlie Chism is another junior who will occupy the shortstop position. “Harlie is one of those special players that doesn’t come around often,” Morris said. “She is a great athlete at the shortstop position and is one of the best hitters I have seen.” Kaitlyn Bryant is back at catcher after gaining valuable experience as a freshman in 2022.
“Kaitlyn is one of the hardest working young ladies I have had. Last season, as a freshman, Kaitlyn caught most of our games and gained a lot of experience. I expect great things from this young lady,” Morris said. Junior utility player Karsen McPherson and senior pitcher/infielder Dacey Morris are additional pieces that will contribute for the Eagles this season. Other seniors include Carsyn Chase (OF), Lanee Gilbert (1B/OF), Cydnee Henderson (OF) and Kinsley Klaasse (OF). Abby Pack is a returning junior infielder, and other sophomores include Payton Mills (1B/OF), Nevaeh Post (OF) and Reese Roof (UT). Incoming freshmen are outfielder Jossalynn Schulz and pitcher/utility player Kaylie Wallace.
