Athletic Director Kyle Null is in his first year of leading the Weatherford High School athletic department. We wanted to help you get to know him a little better.
VYPE: Where have you served as AD or coach before becoming AD at Weatherford?
Kyle: Started coaching career at Yukon where I coached football, softball, basketball, and baseball. Moved to Weatherford in 2015. At Weatherford I have coached softball, golf and Boys Basketball. Last year I was the Dean of students. This year AD.
VYPE: What sports did you play as a student athlete?
Kyle: In high school I played football, Basketball, and baseball
VYPE: Did you play in college? If so, what sports and where?
Kyle: Yes, I played baseball at Mid-America Christian University
VYPE: What made you want to become an Athletic Director?
Kyle: Being a coach for the past 15 years I always saw myself getting into administration and last year after Coach Roof left I felt that it was a good fit for me to make the move from dean of students to AD.
VYPE: What do you enjoy about being an Athletic Director?
Kyle: I enjoy getting to go and watch our coaches coach. Being a coach you don’t really get the chance to go watch other sports practice but now I get to see them and I really enjoy it.
VYPE: What is something about your role as an Athletic Director that might surprise some people?
Kyle: The amount of paperwork we have to do.
VYPE: What three adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Kyle: Hard-worker, communicator, listener
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Kyle: Hanging out with family and friends
VYPE: What motivates you as an athletic director?
Kyle: To give our athletes and coaches everything they need to be successful
VYPE: You are stranded on a deserted island, with food and water already provided, what three items do you have with you?
Kyle: Blanket, pillow, and an air mattress
