Wife and busy mom of two Julie Stalder works a full time at the Bank of Hydro then spends her free time volunteering for the Weatherford volleyball booster as their club President, Tip in Club treasurer, volleyball girls book keeper, track booster President, as well as the SWOSU Alumni Association President.
Volunteering for Julie started when her now high school daughter was in the second grade as her basketball coach. From there she continued volunteering for various sports and clubs from Parent Teacher organizations, hospitality rooms, concession stands, to booster clubs. Growing up her dad taught her the simple but impactful lesson, “God gave you legs to walk and arms to lift and to do what you can to help while you are able.” So to say that Julie took that phrase and ran with it would be an understatement.
“So many organizations need so much help,” said Julie. “Whether it be something like working a game in the concession stand all of the way to organizing a hospitality room. Nothing just magically happens. It takes everyone doing their part to make it all work. Everyone has to do their part and thankfully, Weatherford has a wonderful group of parents that do just that.”
Julie not only thinks volunteering is important, but she believes that God gave her a heart to serve.
“One of the spiritual gifts God gave me is the act of service,” Julie said. “It is what I feel like it is what I’m meant to do. Plus I sure do love these kids. Some of them I’ve given rides and put up with their stinky feet in my car since they were in U6 soccer and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!”
Born and raised in Weatherford, Julie grew up watching and loving sports with her Dad and she continues the love of all things Weatherford and SWOSU with her family today.
“Our family bleeds Bulldog blue so if SWOSU football or basketball is playing, we’re probably there,” Julie said.
Being someone who volunteers for multiple sports and clubs each day might look a little different. Julie starts her day off reading texts from the booster clubs, then she heads to her day job where she makes lists of what she has to accomplish for both work and boosters, and then follows up her evenings usually at a sporting event where you can find her keeping books for junior varsity and varsity girls basketball.
