Elk City’s Tres Hill – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Great Plains Bank

Elk City senior Tres Hill is the one bag for the Elks golf team and the starting point guard for the basketball team. He said he fell in love with both of the sports when his older brothers introduced him to them.

“I love working at golf and trying to become the best I can be,” Hill said. “I’ve won five out of the seven tournaments I’ve been in so far, and our team has won six out of seven for the year. We’re ready to get to state and prove a lot of people wrong.”

Hill said as a senior, he’s accepted that he can be seen as a role model for the younger members of his teams, and he said that’s a role he’s embracing.

“I love being a role model for the younger guys,” he said. “I want to make sure I set a good example for them on and off the course. The team practices are really good for all of us to work and help each other out. We all go out and play, and I show them some of the shots I hit and how to play them. I want to show them how to carry themselves on and off the course.”

In a fantastic way to wrap up his high school athletics career, Hill won the state tournament and the Elks team finished second overall.

Hill said he wants to thank his parents and all his coaches for believing in him, and making him the player he is today.

In his free time, Hill said he enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, as well as going fishing. His future plans involve playing golf for Oklahoma City University.

“My plans are to continue growing my golf game and preparing for collegiate golf,” he said. “I will also be pursuing a degree in business finance, and I hope to eventually work at a bank or investment firm.”
