Elk City golfer Madilynn Long recently completed an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
I want to make the varsity golf team and hopefully my next step will be state.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Having fun and building relationships with my golf teammates on the golf course.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
I would say my friend, Erin. We have built a great friendship through sports from softball, basketball, and now leading up to golf. She has been a loyal and supportive friend and I look forward to building that relationship on the golf course.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
The opportunity to make new friends, learning more and getting better everyday.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I am a member of The Way Church in Elk City. I volunteer to help teach in the children’s classrooms and in our community Serve Day events.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Golf has taught me respect, discipline, and my own self confidence.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
My dad has taught me how to focus and tune out my surroundings. It’s just me and the ball.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
My dad inspires me. He has always been there to teach and guide me. He has volunteered to coach since I was 4 years old and supports me in anything I chose to do.
