Elk City’s Emily Lowrance – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Moxy Realty

by Trina Walker

Emily Lowrance is a senior at, Elk City High School where she plays softball and basketball. Her favorite part of being an athlete at ECHS is the support she gets from classmates, teachers and coaches.

This support has taught Emily that mistakes don’t define you. Emily says there is value in “always having people that have your back and always having people that push you to be your best.”

Emily started playing softball when she was about four-years-old. “My dad was always my coach,” she says.

Her favorite part of the game are the people she gets to play with and her love of the competition. Beating Tuttle in softball season last year is a big win that will always be a favorite memory.

On the field Emily is inspired by teammate, Ella Sottile who always gives 110 percent, but Emily is most inspired by her mom. “She has done everything in her power to make me and my brother the happiest and most successful we could be.”

In the classroom teachers, Lori Park and Bridgette Shelton, taught Emily she has the ability to do anything she puts her mind to.

“I want to say thank you to my dad, Coach Hamm and Coach Murray for always pushing me to be the best version of myself. I also want to say thank you to my brother Kelby. He is someone that has always had my back and truly wanted the best for me in any situation,” says Emily.

In addition to playing basketball, she is also a member of NHS, FCA, Student Council, Honor Choir, and is very active in her church.

Emily wants to pass on advice given to her. “Someone else’s success doesn’t make yours any less important.”
