Elk City’s Braxton Robertson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Paul Jones Pharmacy

Braxton Robertson, an Elk City High School senior, plays football and soccer and wrestles.

Robertson, a running back-linebacker on the gridiron and striker on the pitch, is also a member of Key Club, National Honors Society and First Christian Athletes.

Being an Elk “means to play to the best of my abilities while also showing good sportsmanship and leadership,” Robertson said.

It means something to Robertson to make others proud. His dad was his first role model.

“My dad, he’s the one that’s pushed me to be the best wrestler/man I can be and has never once given up on me,” Robertson said. “I can’t thank him enough.”

Dedication, independence and confidence are instrumental traits to Robertson’s athletic career. He’s also benefited from relationships with his coaches and teammates.

“Joseph Leven, he was our athletic trainer and he wrestled in high school and college. He helped with my mindset and always reminded me to be true to myself,” Robertson said. “One of my favorite teammates to work with and that pushes me to be my best is Edgar Armendariz.”

Robertson makes sure to bring it every game — but there’s one team that gets the competitive juices flowing like no other.

“Anytime I hear we get a chance to go against the Clinton Red Tornadoes, you best bet I’m bringing my all,” Robertson said.

After high school, Robertson plans to wrestle in college and major in athletic training.
