Elk City’s Alyssa Brott – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Moxy realty

By Derrick Smith

High school student-athletes have a lot of people that they can look up to and try to model themselves after. While some may see professional athletes as an influence and others may see a family member as one, Alyssa Brott has a few and says that there is one in particular.

“Delaja Martin, who is a teammate of mine, is someone that I look up to,” she said. “She is someone that I aspire to be like because she believes in everyone’s potential and puts everyone before herself. Also, I would not be the athlete I am today without the girls within my grade. They push me to be better all the time and we always have each other’s back.”

Brott is a junior at Elk City High School, where she is a member of the school’s basketball and softball teams. She plays guard and post on the basketball court and second base and third base on the softball field.

The growth and improvement that she has experienced over the years has not just naturally happened. Brott has worked hard to earn that she says that it makes the success even better when it is worked for.

“In order for me to be successful in my sports,  it has taken hours of sweat working out and practicing,” she said. “Also late nights thinking about what I can do better next time to get where I need to be.”

As she looks back on her career so far, there are some great memories that she has made and enjoyed. But out of all of them, she says that there is one that she loves the most.
“My freshman basketball season, we ended the season with a 13-1 record,” she said. “The thing that made it even better was that we beat our rivals Weatherford too.”

Along with playing sports, Alyssa is also the vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of the student council, the Fellowship of Chrisitan Athletes, and the Key Club.
