Elk City’s Gabriela Box – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by RibCrib

At the age of four, Gabriela Box began tumbling, which progressed to power tumbling and
competitive cheerleading. Now a varsity cheerleader at Elk City High School, Box said she
loves being a positive role model for the next generation.
“I have had the unique privilege to travel throughout the country to compete in the AAU
Junior Olympics and USTA Nationals. The single best thing about being an Elk City varsity
cheerleader is being a positive role model to the young children watching in the stands.
This is so special to me because I was once one of those little kids,” said Box.
Now in her junior year, Box said Elk City HS is a great place to be a student-athlete and she
is excited for the new year to start.

“Elk City is a great place to be a student-athlete for many reasons. Whether it is community
support, financial assistance, political backing, or rallying around students, Elk City
demonstrates itself as a great place to be a student athlete. This season, I am most excited
about competing at Game Day and making our way to state. And of course, to cheer on our
Big Elks football team as they make their way to the championship,” said Box. “We are a
positive force for each other. We all want to support each other and become better athletes
and people. Even though the school year is just beginning, I know we have great potential
and the power to succeed.”
Box is a member of the Spanish Club and serves as an officer for FCCLA while competing
with the cheer team. Box said one day she plans to attend college while continuing her
cheer career at the next level.
“My hope is to attend college and continue pursuing my passion for cheer/stunt and major
in Business. It has long been a dream of mine to own my own business,” said Box.
The junior said she wants her class to be remembered for being a group of dedicated
leaders who are determined to be the best possible athletes.
