Elk City’s Cooper Garbarino Athlete Spotlight Presented by First National Bank and Trust

By Jayden Oyler
Cooper Garbarino, a 12th grader at Elk City High School, is a well-known figure in the hallway.
His passion for sports, particularly football and track, has defined his high school years. “I play
Football and Track,” he shared with pride.
Garbarino’s journey through sports has taught him a lot. “Football has taught me many lessons
over the years I have played,” he said. “The one that stuck out to me most is that a team with
not a lot of talent but with a tight bond will overcome a talented team without a bond. Football
is about brotherhood.”

Academically, Garbarino found guidance from his teacher, Mrs. Snider. “She taught me Algebra
2 and made it so easy to understand,” he said.
His uncle Ross is his true inspiration, guiding him towards becoming a great and God-loving
man. Their bond is so close that Garbarino considers him his big brother.
One of the most memorable moments of Garbarino’s high school journey was his friendship
with a teammate, Cooper Patton. Sharing both a name and a position on the field, their
friendship was exceptional. “On the football field, Cooper and I were inseparable,” he
reminisces fondly.
When asked about a valuable piece of advice that has stayed with him, he said, “the windshield
wiper mindset. When something bad happens, wipe it off and move on.”
Garbarino’s involvement in FFA further showcases his commitment to growth and community.
“I would like to thank my parents for supporting me in everything I do,” he said. “I would also
like to thank all my coaches for pushing my team and me to our limits and getting nothing but
the very best out of us.”
