Elk City Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Great Plains Bank

Coach Sean Hamm

21-22 Record: 12-13

The Elkettes basketball team return a strong core of nine seniors to lead the team this season and are looking forward to having a good year after showing growth last season. Head coach Sean Hamm is expecting to see his ladies take the next step forward and improve on last year’s record. Hailey Buie (Sr.) led the team in scoring last year as a junior and is looking to have another solid season before heading off to play collegiate basketball. “She is the glue and heart-beat of our team,” Hamm said. “She is the teammate that celebrates her teammates’ success more than her own. She is also the team leader when it comes to gym-time and making sure our players are committed and putting in the extra work.”

Abby Jo Robbins brings versatility to the floor and can play any spot on the floor 1-5 and is just as effective on the perimeter as she is down in the post on both ends of the floor. “She will do anything asked of her, whether it is playing inside and grabbing tough rebounds against taller players, or handling the ball in pressure sitions to control the offense,” Hamm said.

Abby Brown is an up and coming player heading into her sophomore year. Last season Brown played a pivotal role as the team’s sixth man and was the Elkettes second leading scorer while coming off the bench. This year coaches are expecting a breakout year from Brown and she will be given the reins to run the offense.

Senior Caylin Burton is one of the team leaders and has battled through injuries over the past few seasons. Burton made an impact her junior year while staying healthy and coaches expect big things from her on both ends of the court with her aggressiveness and quickness.

Also look for Jada Kimball and Jill Meador to bring back their experience and leadership to the floor. The two veterans are great mentors for younger players and always give full effort whether they are approaching a big or small task.
