Head coach – Zac Maynard
2021: 10-3
The Elk City Elks enter the 2022 football season ready to build off last season’s success. They finished with a 10-3 record and advanced to the Class 4A semifinals before losing to Clinton, the eventual champion. Second-year head coach, Zac Maynard, says that he has high hopes for his squad this season. “I am excited coming off of last season,” he said. “There are a lot of big expectations for this group. We lost a big group of seniors last year but look to reload with lots of young talent and some outstanding returners coming back.” Leading the offensive line will be tackle Logan Trevino (6-2, 295, Sr.). He is an outstanding blocker up front and will help the running and passing game. In the backfield, working to find open running lanes will be full back Levy Owens (6-0, 235, Sr.). He will look to step up and be a blocker for the running backs as well as run the ball when he is called on. Cooper Garbarino (6-0, 185, Jr.) is going to be a target at slot receiver. He has worked hard in the off season and looks to be a bigger threat this season.
