ELK CITY ELKS
BOYS
Coach: Sam Stephens
22-23 Record: 11-13
Elk City returns some experience in 2023-24 under head coach Sam Stephens, but the Elks must replace four seniors. “Will be looking to those returning players to step up and lead,” Stephens said. “Have a good athletic junior class that just needs to play and get comfortable at the varsity level.”
VYPE Top 100 candidate Cole Buie, a junior guard, gives Elk City a lot of experience as a two-year starter on the perimeter. “Cole has been our point guard and has done a great job running our offense,” Stephens said. “This season we will be looking for Cole to step up his leadership and scoring.” The Elks will also lean on Alex Cupp, a senior combo guard who will join Buie in the backcourt. “Alex has played a big role on our team since his sophomore year,” Stephens said. “Alex, at the guard spot, is one of our best on ball defenders and a consistent knock down shooter for us. He has also been a player for us that works incredibly hard and is very coachable.” Assistant coaches for the Elks are Jared Keyes and Shayne Thornton.
