Clinton’s Lexie Conway – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Blakeburn Concierge and Clinic

by Trina Walker

Lexie Conway is a Junior at Clinton Public Schools.

She plays both volleyball and soccer, but volleyball is her favorite.

“I got into volleyball in the 7th grade. I signed up as a joke but I ended up loving it so much.

“The best advice anyone has given me is, volleyball is a game of mistakes, you’re going to make mistakes and it’s okay,” said Lexie.

Volleyball has taught Lexie how to deal with many different people. This has been a valuable life tool.

“My favorite part of being on a team is making a lot of new friends and making those connections with your teammates,” she said.

Lexie’s passion for volleyball comes from her father.

“My father inspires me,” says Lexie, “I want to say thank you to my father for always being there for me and that I miss you being there for me.”

One travel destination stands out beyond all others for Lexie and her mom.
“I would go back to the Philippines and bring my mom because she’s been wanting to go back to her home,” said Lexie.

When it comes to food Lexie has a very specific meal she loves above all else.

“My all-time favorite meal would be rice, salmon, eggs, spam with ketchup and seaweed all in a bowl, really good,” she said.

Her bests memories would probably be lessons with Taryn Galt from the SWOSU volleyball team.

Lexie looks up to pro volleyballer, Zoe Fleck, because she is simply an amazing athlete.

Fellow teammates like Bryale Johnson have also left the biggest impression on Lesie.

“She (Bryale) is an amazing athlete and she has taught me many things,” says Lexie.

The Clinton community is supportive of their student athletes. The support she gets representing her school is her favorite part of being a student athlete.
